Pakistan Job Market
Should You Include a Photo on Your Resume in Pakistan?
Photo requirements vary by employer and market. Follow the application instructions and consider privacy and bias before attaching a headshot.
Where photos still appear
Some Gulf-facing, airline, hospitality, or retail applications explicitly request a professional photo. Include one only when requested or when you make an informed choice.
A government form may include a fixed passport-photo field. Follow the current advertisement and form rather than adding a photo to every CV.
An employer may request a photo separately. Keep a parser-focused resume text-based and do not embed identity-document scans.
Where to skip the photo
For an application connected to the US, UK, or another international market, check the employer's instructions; a no-photo resume is a privacy-conscious default when no photo is requested.
LinkedIn already shows your face. Duplicating on CV uses space better spent on skills.
If Rozee preview mangles layout because of image placement, remove it.
If you include one
Plain background, formal dress, recent image. No filters or group crops.
Small size embedded top right on a Word CV is traditional in Pakistan. Keep file size reasonable.
Do not add a photo solely for building access; follow any separate identity-check instructions from the verified employer.
Discrimination and practicality
Some qualified candidates avoid photos on principle. That is valid for sectors that allow it.
When employer instructions say attach photo, follow instructions over general advice.
Never use CNIC scan as photo substitute on international applications.
