Keep Your LinkedIn and Resume Consistent

A recruiter may compare your LinkedIn profile with your CV. Keep shared facts consistent without turning the two documents into duplicates.

Why cross-checking is common

A recruiter can open a public LinkedIn profile before an interview and compare tenure, company names, and education. Treat that as a possibility, not a universal practice.

If the same experience appears on LinkedIn and your CV, keep the underlying dates and facts aligned. A shorter description on one platform is not automatically a problem.

A polished LinkedIn with a weak CV wastes effort. Treat them as one package.

What must match

Job titles and months for start and end. Minor title differences are ok if explained: "Executive" internally vs "Officer" on CV.

Degree names and graduation years. If HEC issued an equivalence for a foreign qualification, keep the qualification title consistent with that record.

Location and open-to-work settings should align with cities on your CV.

Using LinkedIn without duplicating everything

LinkedIn can hold longer project descriptions and media. Your CV should stay tighter with the same facts.

Genuine recommendations may add context for client-facing work, but they are optional and should come from people who know your work.

A custom URL can make the profile easier to share. A profile photo is optional; use LinkedIn's current guidance and your own privacy preferences.

Update both after every role change

Set a calendar reminder to sync CV, LinkedIn, and Rozee upload within a week of a new job or promotion.

When applying for a sensitive move, turn off notifications that broadcast profile edits to your current boss's network.

Review a LinkedIn PDF export before using it. A purpose-built CV gives you more control over relevance, length, and parser-friendly structure.

Consistency checklist

Cross-check both before you apply:

  • Job titles and start and end months match on both.
  • Degree names and graduation years line up.
  • Location and open-to-work settings agree with your CV.
  • Build the CV separately; do not use the LinkedIn export as your final file.
